I am going to start this post with a disclaimer: This is part of an experiment (not officially scientific, but nonetheless), Please disclose to the author if you intend on being a part of it. The more the merrier!!(and the more complete results)
My scripture for Part IV of the series "If you have not LOVE" is Romans 12:9-10
"Let your love be sincere; hate what is evil, but hold fast to that which is good. Love one another with brotherly affection, giving precedence and showing honor to one another."
First of all, my friends, this verse is soemthing we should all know... Yet we seldom follow! Right?
So, showing honor to one another goes hand in hand with hating what is evil because if we are hating what is evil and holding fast to what is good then we will have already shown honor and affection to one another!!This verse is about us, as Christians, showing God's love to people!! Hence the theme, IF you have not LOVE!!
What my purpose today is, is that you, as believers, husbands, wives, sisters, brother, co-workers..Beging to think positively about your neighbors, friends, spouses etc.
Because if we are thinking hateful thoughts we are not staying away from things that are evil, for even our thoughts are being evil. We need to focus on our thoughts just the same as our actions! Without loving thoughts our deeds mean hypocrasy!!
"If we are praying for an individual to change, while thinking constantly about what he is like and how he will probably never change, our prayers will be negated by our negative thinking."--Joyce Meyer, Reduce Me to Love
It is so true.. That is where the Mother-In-Law experiment comes in to play for you all, and me.. (I am on day 2 of the experiment, but testimony will come later)
I am calling it the Mother-In-law project because we all seem to have some sort of issues with our Mother-In-Law... RIGHT???? But, the experiment does not have to be played out with/by/through your mother-in-law!
Here are the guidelines: *Choose one person (or two if you wish) to think, pray and act positive thoughts and actions to/by/through each and every day several times a day for two weeks (14 days). *Keep a log, either here by responding to my post or at home with a note pad. *Think positively about that person, pray positively for that person wishing/petitioning for blessings in their live *change your own attitude towards that person--no matter what the past history is.. For this is the experiment----**Now the last part is to witness the positive changes in your own life first--because you will change first, which in turn causes the relationship with that person to change. Even though you have not physically said the positive things to them that you are praying and thinking...(although a compliment or positive comment never hurts a relationship)**As you watch yourself change and the relationship with the other person change, record the changes and send them to me!!
Please, please try this. My goal is to cause many people to begin to think positive about themselves and someone else in their life. What is the worst that can happen? You might actually thing positive thoughts about someone or something for 14 days??? Doesn't sound like it has any negative consequences...
Bottom line: We need to begin to love one another more, ON PURPOSE. We need to purposely NOT think negatively about those around us... WWJD? Would Jesus think mean or ugly things about the ones HE was suposed to love?
